Es kann wirklich nur eine Florence auf der Welt geben - und diese hat ihren Körper und Geist wieder geöffnet, in Noten und Musikerköpfen gepresst - und mit Hilfe des allmächtigen Paul Epworth auf ihren zweiten Longplayer gebannt.

Große Richtungsänderungen sind nicht erforderlich, ihr Universum ist längst noch nicht komplett erforscht worden ... viel Kammersaal-Pop, feierlich-sakristale Klangwelten, Klavier, viele Chöre, Rotwein und Ausdruckstänze unter fahlem Mondlicht.

Es kann nur eine geben!

Größer, imposanter und ekstatischer noch als der Vorgänger, außerdem erstaunlicherweise noch weniger poppig.
Nachdem es heute erst rausgekommen ist, ein heißer Kandidat auf das Album des Jahres, mal sehen, wie es sich im Laufe der Zeit noch entwickelt. - 6*

Das Highlight meines gestrigen Tages. Als mein E-Mail-Postfach mir mitteilte, das neue Album sei nun veröffentlicht, hätte ich Purzelbäume schlagen können. Die Erwartungen wurden mehr als eingehalten. Sie klingen immer noch absolut toll.

Die Loslösung vom Wald-und-Wiesen-Fee-Hippie-Image gelingt Florence und ihrer Band auf grossartige Weise. Mit diesem Set voller eingängiger Breitwand-Arenapop-Hymnen legen sie ein grosses, gereiftes Werk vor; hypnotisch-beschwörend, ekstatisch, wall-of-soundig bis zum Umfallen. Wahnsinn.

The good: Ceremonials is probably one of the strongest albums released this year and i'm glad that Florence didn't disappoint after the brilliant Lungs. It's super cohesive with lots of highlights and very little filler tracks. Shake It Out is the weakest link and even that is not below average. Also, one of the reasons why I love this album is because it has huge appeal to both indie fans and pop fans.

The bad: Lungs is an effortlessly brilliant album whereas this is a bit try-hard. As I said, this album does have many highlights, but there isn't a killer track on it ala Dog Days Are Over, Cosmic Love or Girl With One Eye to name a few. Another thing that is missing is the quirkiness. Oh how I miss tracks like Kiss With A Fist. Also I would say that Lungs was a much more experimental album than this one.

My suggestion: Try to avoid comparisons with her first album or you might end up slightly disappointed like I did.

Absolutely fantastic album, every song was powerful and unique in its own way, It would be an understatement to say that this is one of the best albums of the year; and it deserves the success that it has achieved.

The singles thus far have been perfect, straight from 'What The Water Gave Me' being a promo, to the recently released 'No Light, No Light' they haven't gone wrong in any way.

This album is very relevant and relatable to quite a lot of people, and the way they flow into one another... Florence has clearly made a masterpiece here.

I would advise anyone to buy this, the highlights of the album are "Shake It Out", "What The Water Gave Me", "No Light, No Light", "Lover To Lover", "Seven Devils", "Heartlines", "Spectrum", and "All This And Heaven Too"

Fantastic album, one of the greatest releases of 2011. 6*

Ein wahnsinniges Album das keine Scheu vor musikalischen Grenzen hat. Mystisch, atmosphärisch, abwechslungsreich ...

I find this to be a more consistent effort than Lungs, however the high points do not reach quite as high as Kiss With A Fist, Dog Days Are Over or even You've Got The Love did. Still, this was quite a grower, at first I was disappointed, but subsequently I've grown to enjoy it more and more. In some ways this is better than Lungs, it's certainly more polished and creates a beautiful atmosphere. I look forward to another album.

Kein schlechter Nachfolger nach 2 Jahren, aber doch deutlich hinter der Qualität von Lungs.
Viel interessantes, aber kein Song schafft es die Spannung auf Dauer zu halten (Ausnahme: Heartlines).
Von den Bonustracks hätte ich mir "Bedroom Hyms" auf die reguläre Fassung gewünscht.
Wieso steht die britische #1 nicht oben?

Après le succès de "Lungs", ce second album de Florence + The Machine était très attendu par les fans. Et leur attente a été récompensée : au rendez-vous, quelques petits bijoux tels que "No Light, No Light", "Spectrum" ou encore "Only If For A Night", mon morceau préféré. Cet album dégage une atmosphère enivrante qui agit, en ce qui me concerne, comme une drogue. Florence est époustouflante par son authenticité et son talent. Un des meilleurs albums de ces dernières années.
