Die zweite Single aus dem Live-Album mit dem Melboure S.O. Hier klingt Elton weitaus besser als bei "Your Song". Das Kaputte in seiner Stimme gibt dem Klassiker einen neuen Dreh. Mauserte sich dann auch zum Überraschungshit: D # 55, UK # 5, USA # 6!

Der erste Riesenhit nach seiner Stimmbandoperation, natürlich eine Liveversion des Titels von 1973.

Jahrhundertnummer.
Peaked at #92 in Australia, 1987.
Aufgenommen im Dezember 1986, dafür gab's (auch) frenetischen Jubel.
#23 meiner persönlichen Elton best-of.
Bevorzuge die 97er-Version. 4+

Da die beiden anderen Versionen volle Punktzahl haben, kann ich nicht weniger geben.

Diese Liveaufnahme stand in UK auf #5 und in der USA war sie gar nicht platziert.

aber zuviel Hall
Die stärkste der drei auf Single erschienenen Versionen. Elton John hier in Bestform. Nicht so planmässig wie 1997, nicht so easy wie 1973. Genau richtig für diesen Song für Marilyn Monroe.
Eine sehr schöne, und wie ich finde, sehr intime Liveaufnahme - in meinen Ohren klingt das sehr schön.

War in Irland im Februar 1988 sogar eine #4 in den Charts!
Great Liveversion of a fantastic Ballad
Egal in welcher Fassung - der kommt einfach immer gut. Insbesondere auch als Kollaboration mit dem MSO, wobei das Orchester hier eher zurückhaltend agierte.
Meiner Meinung nach immer noch sehr überbewertetes Lied mit hart zu viel Overplay nach 1997. Ordentliche Zweitversion des Marilyn Monroe gewidmeten Originals.
Ist halt einfach ein schönes Lied.
Nog ok.
Noch eine der Aufnahmen "with the original meaning" (M. M.), hier live mit dem australischen Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
