It's like Pharrell and Robin Thicke's lovechild. :P

So much mediocrity.

Trotzdem solide! :)

Pharrell should sue for plagiarism

He's pretty boring and this song is inoffensive but not interesting. I'm quite sick of the Pharrell sound now anyway.

It's obvious that it's trying to sound like that Pharrell esque funky r&b/pop, but that's not a bad thing if I'm being honest. I was surprised to find that DNA are responsible for this, because it certainly sounds a few classes ahead of their usual form. The production on this is great and easily DNA's best production effort to date. The song as a whole is enjoyable too and I hope it can be a reasonable sized hit, even if it needs Dancing With The Stars and X Factor. Easily a step up from "You're Beautiful" and has the potential to overtake "You" for me eventually.

Edit (09/10): Actually I think it sounds more like "I Want It All", which wasn't a Pharrell production but had a similar sound. I don't like it as much as most other similar sounding tracks but I'm still really enjoying it, very close to "You" for me.

Good, an improvement on "You're Beautiful" but not quite as good as "You". To be honest, "You" was a better and more interesting DNA production, and this is nothing on Pharrell's expertise.

Err this is not for me at all. Really cheap offering and his worst yet.

Song comes across as try-hard. Average vocals, average song.

Step 1: Sony crave the scrilla/chart positions.
Step 2: Sony pick an artist on their roster who needs to put out a new song at some point.
Step 3: Sony hit up Egizii & Musumeci on speed dial and put them to work. The track is a little substandard, perhaps embarrassing when compared to international counterparts, but they've been pushing the same mediocrity for long enough that enough people will still buy into it.
Step 4: Sony put up track on iTunes as pre-order.
Step 5: Sony send track to radio.
Step 6: Sony make sure that iTunes put the track up near the top of the 'New Singles To Watch' page upon release, and put it up for $1.19.
Step 7: Song is released and immediately soars up the charts.
Step 8: Aiming to rescue the inevitably flailing momentum, Sony hook up a performance on The X Factor, so make sure the track soars into a prime position on the chart.
Step 9: While a success, Sony now need to beg Channel 9 or Channel 7 to put the track on a promo for at least a couple weeks, until the track is high enough on the radio airplay chart that it can sustain its momentum for a couple months.
Step 10: No substantial impact is made. If the plan follows perfectly for at least 3 consecutive singles, an album might drop.
Step 11: Zero international impact, even in a climate where we've gotten a 2 month Antipodean reign annually on the Billboard Hot 100 for the last 3 years.
Step 12: jinx is not impressed.

And seriously, I can't stress enough just how substandard it is. I get secondhand embarrassment just listening to it. It's a stark contrast to its own sentiments of breaking out of dullness.

4.5*-

Sein Bewerbungsschreiben für Pharrell Williams? Wenig überzeugendes Stück mit nervigen La la la la la la zwischendurch, 2.75…

The sound this is going for isn't bad, the attempt at creating this sound is bad. Okay overall.

It has an instant catchiness about it, more so than his other singles, but 'You' will probably have the longer lasting impression over time. 3.3*

God that chorus is so annoying, I can't stand it. Not a good effort at all, and a really poor offering after You're Beautiful and especially You.

One of the campest and catchiest songs of the year. I really like it though. It's faux upbuilding lyrics are what I fall for generally. Plus I don't mind Nathaniel's voice.

Awful, one of the worst songs to come out of 2014
