This song was one of the entries of the 1970 Dutch Eurovision pre-selections ... and ended second. The Hearts Of Soul won. But all the attention went to this duo and their refined song. That's why they were selected - without competition - to represent the Netherlands in 1971. ''t Spinnewiel' peaked at # 2 in my charts, on March 21, 1970. They had also a chart entry in 2001, spanning 31 years of chart action. True performers, true stars. But underrated. This is Hollland, after all ... :-(

Beautiful masterpiece 'Spinnewiel' lost the Eurovision preselections with a noselenght back in 1970. Something went wrong with the voting it seemed that faithful evening the show as aired (February 11, 1970). The Hearts of Soul won and were chose to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision with their song 'Waterman'. Anyway, Saskia & Serge got all the attention and to make things up with them they were selected for 1971 ... without the competion element.

Tweede in de Nederlandse voorronde voor het Eurovisie Songfestival 1970 achter the Hearts Of Soul met Waterman.

Mooi nummer.

▒ Mager plaatje van "Saskia & Serge", een zangduo dat al meer dan 43 jaar meedraait in de Nederlandse muziekwereld, mede dankzij verschillende muzikale koerswijzigingen !!! Het duo bestaat uit gitarist / zanger "Ruud Schaap" (Den Helder, 22 maart 1946) en zangeres "Trudy van den Berg" (Grootebroek, 23 april 1947) !!! Blijf helaas op 2 sterren steken ☺!!!

Gelukkig hebben ze de pensioengerechtigde leeftijd inmiddels mogen bereiken, nou maar hopen dat ze er ook daadwerkelijk mee ophouden.
