...ach ist das schön - ich liebe die Zwei - Shaggy mit seinem sympathischen Shabadabadangbang-Geplauder und Sting mit seinen schön gesungenen, lieben Lyrics ..... und Melodie und Rhythmus sind so zauberhaft schön und belebend - ich kann kaum still sitzen - "just 1 liiiiiife to life"...... "all we have is me and you, it have to be enough....."...

Hey Kamala, yes. Das ist auch mein Lieblingssong auf dem Album. Wenn Sting den Refrain singt "Just one lifetime", ach ist das schön.

Ja, das haben die beiden geschickt gemacht: Sozialkritik hinter einem sonnigen lockig flockigen Reggae versteckt.

Deutliche Botschaft: Wenn wir so weitermachen, geht die Welt vor die Hunde. Wir habe nur eine Spanne Lebenszeit, die wir sinnvoll verbringen sollten, damit nicht das Szenario einsetzt, dass Sting zuletzt heraufbeschwört: "Kein Lebenszeichen, kein Benzin mehr, auch kein Essen in all den leeren Städten durch die wir fuhren. Es muss jetzt mal gut sein."

Verpackt auch noch in Verse von Lewis Carroll aus "Through the Looking Glass", wo im Kapitel 4 (Tweedledum and Tweedledee) ein gereimtes Gespräch zwischen dem Walroß und dem Zimmermann stattfindet. Pointe daraus: Die Rede wird den Austern gehalten, die neugierig zuhören, bis sie merken, dass das die eigentliche Methode war, sie zu fangen. Und so wurden sie alle von dem Walroß und dem Zimmermann aufgegessen:

"Now, if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed." sagt das Walross.

"But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue..."

"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
with sobs and tears...

'O Oysters,' said the Carpenter,

Brutaler Egoismus und erschreckender Mangel an Empathie, bei gleichzeitiger tränenreicher Versicherung, dass man doch Verständnis für die Anliegen der betroffenen Leidtragenden hat.
Ein Schelm, wer da nicht - angesichts der Klimakatastrophe - an unser Mitleid mit den Südseeinseln denkt, die durch die steigenden Meere versinken werden. Und wir fahren morgen früh wieder zur Arbeit mit dem alten Diesel...

Wunderbarer Song, wunderbare Botschaft: Diesmal geschickt versteckt, aber mit dem Stachel am (Schwanz-)Ende (sting in the tale/tail). So werden gute Geschichten erzählt.

Macht durchaus Laune.

Ja, dieser Song macht durchaus Freude.

Gewohnt gute Musik der beiden, aber ihre Songs ähneln sich stilistisch auch recht stark. Weiß nicht, finde das meist angenehm, aber den ganz großen Kick gibt es mir zugleich dann auch nicht. Würde mir etwas mutigere Titel wünschen.

Dank an pwill für das informative Review. Ja, das hört sich so harmlos an. Dass so ein sozial kritischer Text diese locker-flockige Musik begleitet, das würde man beim oberflächlichen Hören gar nicht vermuten.

Mir hat auch die Doku zur Aufnahme von den beiden gefallen.

Regaae ist nicht meine Sparte, aber wenn dann darf es gerne ein solch cooler Song sein. Das haben die beiden mehr als ordentlich hingekriegt. 5

Wow, noch ein 5er. Bin überrascht. Richtig gutes Teil. Sting ist einer der besten Songwriter überhaupt, vor allem auch auf die Lyrics bezogen. Von daher kein Wunder @pwill.
