Dik 5 sterren ☺!!!
Verschikkelijk irritant nummer.
schwach
I don't know what TOP was thinking about this. Taking a breakbeat genre to mix their rock and alternative hip hop in a sort of electro way? Maybe. The production is great but I think is average to start off from Blurryface. I'm not saying the song is bad is just that is interesting instead of good And wow, they release it as the sixth single in December 2016, pretty late though. I would prefer if Hometown, Polarize or Not Today were the last sixth singles than this. Its alright not their best
I've been wanting to give an opinion on Twenty One Pilots here, because everyone on the internet is dying to let you know of their opinion on this band. Heaps of teenagers in the clique looooooove them and if you're in a slightly older demographic, chances are you'll start to haaaaate them with the same amount of passion. At the start of last year, I was on the side of hating them, admittedly being turn off by their white-rap-ness more than anything, but I made friends with some 17/18 year-olds who were big fans and I slowly learned how to not be a dick about them (In turn, I've gotten them to appreciate Kanye and Kirin J Callinan, it's been a good bond).

Anyway, amidst all the claiming that TOP are the best or worst thing evaar, inevitably the more objective answer lies somewhere in the middle. But frustratingly, rather than TOP simply being 'average' their music is more of a thick blend of Very Good and Very Bad ideas, often within the same song.

This song is a classic example of that. It begins with a frenetic dance-rock drum beat and warped, gated tones that remind me of The Chemical Brothers. The chorus is a belter, starting with a gospel-y cry of "can you save my heavydirtysoul" singing the title words as they're written, which is a perfect lead in to the fluid "from mEEeeEEeeEE"s that follow. And I dig the well-timed "huh!" that intergects itself amongst all the hook-making. The finale breakdowns are also great, and I really love how a guitar-less band who's rise has came to cause some writers to question what we consider "rock" can turn in some overdriven synths that you might as well air-guitar to, particularly the shrieking line at the end that sounds like a feedback drenched noise solo. It's also helped by the muscle of Josh Dun's drumming too, and it shows me that despite being such a genre-ambiguous act who lack the defining instrument of a "real rock" band, they actually do rock in a really natural, energised way. In fact, it's probably the style they're best at.

BUT, then there's the not-so-good stuff. The rapping in the verses are nothing to write home about, although there's enough happening in the background for you to just tune out of it. The "gangstas don't cry" part of the pre-chorus is harder to ignore, and a bit (Spectrum Pulse voice:) obnawkshuss. But the real cringe moment has to be the bridge, where Tyler Joseph mewls "death inspires me like a dog, inspires a rabbit" which is not only a pretty bad lyric in itself, but is delivered in such a flat dragged-out way (that comma in the quote was chosen carefully) it really joins the elite ranks of Pop Song Bridges That Randomly Kick the Momentum in The Balls along with 'Shiny Happy People' and 'Shake It Off'. At this point I've trained my ears to bypass those bits since I find a lot to like about this song, and I'd rather not be on the side of hating it for those missteps. My enjoyment of it is easily a 5 in that regard, but my objective rating remains at a 4.
Ok
The rap is not so bad but it's my least favourite part of the song. Could see myself really getting into it if I listened to it a bit more. 3.5.
Nicer opener
.
Nein danke. Nervt schon bald einmal.
Unrund schrieb Kollege AquavitBoy.
Guter Twenty One Pilots Song.
Kann man sich schon mal anhören.
